Sony FE 100mm F2.8 GM Macro OSS for hire

About this kit

The Sony FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS is Sony's G Master macro lens. We hire it for product and packshots, beauty and skin detail, food, jewellery and watches, nature close-ups and the inserts that make a commercial. At normal distances it doubles as a short-telephoto portrait lens.

Optical stabilisation works with the camera's in-body system for handheld close-ups, though at high magnification even small movements show, so most product work still happens on a tripod. The 100mm focal length gives you more room between the front of the lens and the subject than a shorter macro, which leaves space for light and helps you avoid casting a shadow on it. Depth of field at close range is extremely thin, so plan to stop down and add light, or focus-stack products that need to be sharp front to back.

It fits all our E-mount bodies; the Sony A7R V or Sony A1 II make the most of its detail for stills, and the Sony FX3 or Sony FX6 suit product video. Put it on the Sirui SQ75 Carbon Fiber Video Tripod or Neewer Heavy Duty Video Tripod, and use the Aputure MC Pro for small accent lights. If you don't need the newest lens, the Sony 90mm Macro also reaches life-size.

Questions people ask

What's included with each item?
It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
Can I extend while the kit is out?
Yes, if nobody else has it booked — message us before your return date and we update the booking and the invoice. The earlier you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.
What if something gets damaged?
Minor wear is expected and never charged. Accidental damage is covered by your hire agreement: you are responsible for the kit while it is with you, and significant damage is charged at the repair or replacement cost.
