Sony 28-70mm f2 for hire

About this kit

The Sony FE 28-70mm F2 GM is a standard zoom with a constant f/2 aperture, a stop brighter than the usual f/2.8. It's built for weddings, events, music videos, fashion and documentary, where you want the low-light ability and background separation of a prime without stopping to change lenses.

That extra stop costs size and weight: it's noticeably bigger and heavier than the Sony 24-70mm f2.8 II, and you'll feel it by the end of a handheld day. It also starts at 28mm rather than 24mm, so in tight rooms you have a little less width. Autofocus is quick and quiet, and at f/2 subjects separate cleanly from the background even at the wide end. There's no optical stabilisation in the lens, so it relies on the camera's in-body system.

It works on every E-mount body we hire and suits the Sony FX3, Sony A7S III or Sony FX6 for video, and the Sony A7 IV or Sony Alpha A7 V for stills. With a light body such as the Sony FX3, it's within the payload of the Ronin RS4 Pro or Ronin RS3 Pro. For a longer f/2 option, the Sony 50-150mm F2 GM picks up where it leaves off.

Questions people ask

What's included with each item?
It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
Can I extend while the kit is out?
Yes, if nobody else has it booked — message us before your return date and we update the booking and the invoice. The earlier you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.
What if something gets damaged?
Minor wear is expected and never charged. Accidental damage is covered by your hire agreement: you are responsible for the kit while it is with you, and significant damage is charged at the repair or replacement cost.
