Sony 50mm f1.2 for hire

About this kit

The Sony FE 50mm F1.2 GM is Sony's f/1.2 G Master standard prime. We hire it for portraits, weddings, fashion, low-light documentary and music videos, anywhere you want a natural perspective with very shallow depth of field, or need every bit of light in a dark venue.

Autofocus is fast and accurate even wide open, and it works well with eye tracking on our current bodies. At f/1.2 the focus plane is very thin, so for moving subjects or small groups stop down to f/2 or so. At around 780g it's heavier than most 50mm lenses, though still comfortable on a gimbal. The manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for video. There's no lens stabilisation, so it relies on the camera's in-body system.

It takes 72mm filters, so our ND Filter 72mm lets you shoot wide open in daylight, and the CP Filter 72mm fits too. It fits all our E-mount bodies: the Sony A7R V, Sony A7 IV or Sony A1 II for stills, and the Sony FX3 or Sony A7S III for video. It's light enough for the Ronin RS4 Pro or Ronin RS3 Pro.

Questions people ask

What's included with each item?
It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
Can I extend while the kit is out?
Yes, if nobody else has it booked — message us before your return date and we update the booking and the invoice. The earlier you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.
What if something gets damaged?
Minor wear is expected and never charged. Accidental damage is covered by your hire agreement: you are responsible for the kit while it is with you, and significant damage is charged at the repair or replacement cost.
