Sony 24-70mm f2.8 II for hire

About this kit

The Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II is the standard zoom for most jobs. It covers wide establishing shots through to tight portraits, which makes it the default for weddings, events, corporate and branded content, documentary and music videos. If you only want one lens, this is the one we'd suggest.

At 695g it's noticeably lighter than the first version, which you feel on a gimbal or handheld rig after a few hours. Autofocus is fast and quiet enough to track people through a scene, and the manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth exposure changes on video. There's no optical stabilisation, so it relies on the camera's in-body system or a gimbal. The consideration is depth of field: f/2.8 won't give the shallow look of a fast prime, so if that matters, add one or look at the Sony 28-70mm f2.

It takes 82mm filters, so our ND Filter 82mm and CP Filter 82mm fit, and it shares them with the Sony 16-35mm f2.8 II. It suits every E-mount body we hire: the Sony FX3 and Sony FX6 for video, and the Sony A7 IV, Sony Alpha A7 V or Sony A1 II for stills. On a gimbal, it's at home on the Ronin RS4 Pro, Ronin RS3 Pro or Ronin RS 5 Combo.

Questions people ask

What's included with each item?
It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
Can I extend while the kit is out?
Yes, if nobody else has it booked — message us before your return date and we update the booking and the invoice. The earlier you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.
What if something gets damaged?
Minor wear is expected and never charged. Accidental damage is covered by your hire agreement: you are responsible for the kit while it is with you, and significant damage is charged at the repair or replacement cost.
