Sony 1.4x Teleconverter for hire

About this kit

The Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter (SEL14TC) fits between the camera and a compatible Sony telephoto and multiplies its focal length by 1.4, at the cost of one stop of light. A 300mm f/2.8 becomes a 420mm f/4, and a 70-200mm f/2.8 becomes a 98-280mm f/4. We hire it for sport, wildlife, aviation and stage work, when you can't get closer and don't want to carry a longer lens.

Autofocus, aperture control and the lens's own stabilisation all keep working, though focus can be a little slower to lock in poor light. It only mounts on a short list of Sony lenses: its front element protrudes, so it needs a lens with a deeply recessed rear element. It won't fit standard zooms or most primes, and it isn't supported on third-party lenses.

From our shelf it works with the Sony 70-200mm f2.8 II, Sony 100-400mm f4.5-5.6, Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens and Sony FE 300mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens, on any of our E-mount bodies, such as the Sony A9 III, Sony A1 II or Sony FX6. For more reach, the Sony 2.0x Teleconverter Lens doubles the focal length for a two-stop cost.

Questions people ask

What's included with each item?
It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
Can I extend while the kit is out?
Yes, if nobody else has it booked — message us before your return date and we update the booking and the invoice. The earlier you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.
What if something gets damaged?
Minor wear is expected and never charged. Accidental damage is covered by your hire agreement: you are responsible for the kit while it is with you, and significant damage is charged at the repair or replacement cost.
