Sony 12-24mm f2.8 for hire

About this kit

The Sony FE 12-24mm F2.8 GM is an ultra-wide zoom for when 16mm isn't wide enough: architecture, property and hotel interiors, landscapes, night skies and big establishing shots. The constant f/2.8 aperture makes it practical for astrophotography and for dim interiors where a slower ultra-wide would push the ISO up.

At 12mm, perspective is very strong. Keep the camera level and vertical lines stay straight; tilt it and buildings lean sharply. People near the edges of the frame look stretched, so keep faces towards the centre. Autofocus is fast and quiet, and depth of field at these focal lengths is generous, so focus is rarely the problem. The consideration is filtration: the front element bulges and the hood is built in, so it can't take screw-in filters, which matters for daylight video.

It fits every E-mount body we hire: the Sony A7R V for detailed architecture, the Sony A7S III or Sony FX3 for night and low-light work, and the Sony FX6 for video, where the camera's built-in variable ND gets round the filter problem. It's light enough for the Ronin RS3 Pro or Ronin RS4 Pro. If you need screw-in ND on another body, the Sony 16-35mm f2.8 II takes our ND Filter 82mm.

Questions people ask

What's included with each item?
It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
Can I extend while the kit is out?
Yes, if nobody else has it booked — message us before your return date and we update the booking and the invoice. The earlier you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.
What if something gets damaged?
Minor wear is expected and never charged. Accidental damage is covered by your hire agreement: you are responsible for the kit while it is with you, and significant damage is charged at the repair or replacement cost.
