About this kit
The Sony A7 V is the fifth generation of Sony's all-round full-frame hybrid. Its 33MP partially stacked sensor reads out far faster than the A7 IV's, which allows 30fps blackout-free bursts and 4K up to 60p from the full sensor width. It covers most briefs: weddings, events, portraits, corporate and branded content, and run-and-gun video.
AI subject recognition covers people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles, and Pre-Capture keeps up to a second of frames before the full press, which helps with confetti throws and first dances. In-body stabilisation is rated to 7.5 stops at the centre, the screen tilts and flips out, and video is 10-bit with S-Log3 and S-Cinetone. Battery life is good too, rated at around 750 shots on the rear screen. The thing to plan for: 4K at 100 or 120p uses a Super 35 crop of about 1.5x, so bring a wider lens for slow-motion work.
It's E-mount, with one slot that takes CFexpress Type A or SD and a second SD slot, and runs on NP-FZ100 batteries, which charge in the camera over USB-C. We'd pair it with the Sony 24-70mm f2.8 II as the everyday zoom, the Sony 35mm f1.4 GM for low light, and the Rode VideoMic Pro + for on-camera sound.

Questions people ask

- It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
- What ID do I need?
- A valid photo ID — passport or driving licence — plus a digital hire agreement, signed once online. Verification is a one-time step; after that your account is ready for every future hire.
- Can I collect the same day?
- Often, yes. If the item shows as available and we can confirm in time, same-day collection is normally fine — message us as early in the day as you can.
