About this kit
The Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM is a fast, compact prime at the classic documentary focal length. We hire it for reportage, street, weddings, interviews that show the room, music videos and run-and-gun filmmaking, and it's an easy lens to leave on the camera all day.
It's light for an f/1.4 lens and autofocus is fast and quiet, keeping up with people moving through a scene. The manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth changes on video. At f/1.4 depth of field is shallow enough to pick a face out of a busy room, so lean on eye autofocus when you're working close. There's no optical stabilisation, so on the Sony FX6, which has no in-body system, use a gimbal or other support.
It works on every E-mount body we hire: the Sony FX3 and Sony A7S III for video, and the Sony A7 IV, Sony Alpha A7 V or Sony A1 II for stills. It's light enough for the Ronin RS 5 Combo, Ronin RS4 Pro or Ronin RS3 Pro. It takes 67mm filters.

Questions people ask
- What's included with each item?
- It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
- Can I extend while the kit is out?
- Yes, if nobody else has it booked — message us before your return date and we update the booking and the invoice. The earlier you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.
- What if something gets damaged?
- Minor wear is expected and never charged. Accidental damage is covered by your hire agreement: you are responsible for the kit while it is with you, and significant damage is charged at the repair or replacement cost.
