Sony FE 300mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens for hire

About this kit

The Sony FE 300mm F2.8 GM OSS is a fast telephoto prime for sport, wildlife and stage work from a distance. We hire it for football, rugby and athletics from the touchline, motorsport, and indoor events where f/2.8 lets you keep shutter speeds up without pushing ISO too far.

It's light for a 300mm f/2.8, light enough to handhold for spells, and optical stabilisation works with the in-body system on our Alpha bodies. Autofocus is fast and quiet, and at f/2.8 subjects stand clear of busy backgrounds. As a prime it can't zoom, so on a fast-moving job most people carry a second body with a zoom for anything that comes close.

It takes both of our teleconverters: with the Sony 1.4x Teleconverter it becomes a 420mm f/4, and with the Sony 2.0x Teleconverter Lens a 600mm f/5.6, so one lens covers three focal lengths. Pair it with the Sony A9 III or Sony A1 II for sport and wildlife, or the Sony FX6 or Sony FX3 for sideline video. Use the Manfrotto XPRO 5-Section Aluminum Monopod for long days, and add the Sony 70-200mm f2.8 II on a second body for closer action.

Questions people ask

What's included with each item?
It's listed on the item page under "in the case" — batteries, cards, chargers, cages and cases where they come with the kit. If something you need is not listed, add it from Accessories or ask.
Can I extend while the kit is out?
Yes, if nobody else has it booked — message us before your return date and we update the booking and the invoice. The earlier you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.
What if something gets damaged?
Minor wear is expected and never charged. Accidental damage is covered by your hire agreement: you are responsible for the kit while it is with you, and significant damage is charged at the repair or replacement cost.
